Personalise your Skill files before downloading

Fill in your firm details once and every Skill file you download will be pre-populated with your real information — no manual find-and-replace needed.

How to edit and activate a skill file
1
Open the .md file
Open in any text editor — Notepad, TextEdit, VS Code, or even Google Docs. You do not need any special software. The file is plain text.
2
Check for any remaining [bracket]
If you filled in the form above, most placeholders will already be replaced. Open the downloaded file and do a quick scan — anything still in [placeholder] is specific to your firm and needs your input. Use Find & Replace (Ctrl+H / Cmd+H) to catch them all at once.
3
Copy just the skill block
Copy only the text inside the triple backtick block — the part marked "The Skill (Copy This)". Do not copy the headings, tips, or instructions around it.
For always-on skills (Customise)
In Claude go to Settings → Profile → How would you like Claude to respond? Paste your edited skill text here. It will apply to every conversation from this point on.
For project or one-off skills
Open the relevant Claude Project and paste into Project Instructions. Or paste directly at the top of any new conversation for a one-off task — Claude will follow those rules for that chat only.

Keep Customise lean. Only put things in Settings → Customise that are always true about you — your name, firm, role, and 2–3 universal preferences. Anything task-specific belongs in a Project or pasted per-conversation. Overloading Customise clutters every chat, even unrelated ones.
